Here at Gym72 Manchester we have started our first summer fitness Bootcamp. Using the city centre as our playground every class is different and lots of fun. This blog will hopefully encourage you to get outside and enjoy the Great British summer (ok, the weather doesn’t have to be perfect) and mix up your workout.

Here are a few exercises that we will be using in Bootcamp that you might want to try yourself:

Free space…

Jog on the spot, push ups, butt kicks, squats, jacks, spotty dogs, lunges, split squats, punch outs, standing crunch etc.

Improvise…

Park benches can be used for tricep dips, push ups (feet on floor), sitting to standing squat & Bulgarian spli squat just to name a few. Use your imagination! Low walls can be used for a variety of step ups, high walls can be used for plyometric explosive jumps or high steps etc.

I’d recommend combining sets/ reps formats for srength with Tabata & other intervals for cardio. But like everything it’s about thinking outside of the box and being creative with  your fitness workout.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please take care when doing more risky exercising such as plyometrics. Always work to your own level of comfort and ability and take a friend with you, not just for safety but also for the added motivation.
